Dvds that are on there way.

Due to the 50% sale on Criterion dvds I had to pick up at least one so I finally had the money to order some dvds. The funny thing is my list at the start of this month was completely different then the list I ordered. I ended up getting the dvds I had kept taking off of my list in the past and then two that I had seen the trailers and thought they looked good. I am trying to get a bluray with each order and this time I got two.

I do not know anything about any of the films other than the trailers for each film and that Naked Lunch and Fear and Loathing are really strange. Side note I would have to say that the Naked Lunch trailer has to be one of my favorites.

UFC 117 Thoughts

To start off I want Thiago Silva to win his fight because I really don't want to see him get cut. Now for the card it is.
Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen
Jon Fitch vs. Thiago Alves
Clay Guida vs. Rafael dos Anjos
Matt Hughes vs. Ricardo Almeida
Roy Nelson vs. Junior dos Santos
and heres how I think things will go down. start from the frist fight of the night.

1) I am still not a fan of dos Santos just because they keep giving him no challenging fights. I wanted to see dos Santos Vs Cain Velasquez for the number one spot but nope instead he will fight Roy Nelson. So with that I am picking Roy Nelson by Kimbo Slice style meaning Roy will take him down and control the fight.
2) Now this fight for me is really hard to call so I will flip a coin. Matt Hughes by Decision
3) Now I am not a fan of Clay's but he can really fight a war and so with that I am going with him by a Decision
4) I see Fitch wining but by a Decision I don't think Alves can out wrestle Fitch and that's where this fight will be.
5) I would love for the middleweight division to be explained to me. With Maia coming off of a one fight win streak and now Chael is fighting him it makes no sense. I am not saying Chael can't pull off a Matt Serra fight but he doesn't deserve the title fight to begin with. Think of it this way Jon Fitch has a 4 fight win streak and has only lost once in the 13 fights he's had in the UFC and yet he doesn't get another title shot. Chael is coming off of a 3 fight win streak all due to a 3rd round Decision. I think all Chael can do is talk crap. I don't think we have even seen the Anderson that wants to kill yet. UFC really needs to stop putting Anderson up against guys that can only do one thing. Anderson will win either in the frist 2 rounds or welcome to another boring ass fight crowd prepare to BOO..

Side note I HATE it when the audience starts to fucking boo we are watching the fight as well and not only are we board as hell but now we have annoying assholes that wont shut the hell up. If you don't like a fight STFU and leave!

UFC Live: Jones vs. Matyushenko Thoughts

So UFC Live airs live on Augs 1st and These are my thoughts on who will win.
Jon Jones vs. Vladimir Matyushenko

I want Vladimir Matyushenko to win but I think Jon Jones will TKO him maybe the 2nd.
Yushin Okami will beat Mark Muñoz in a 3 round decision
I going to take a shoot and say Jake Ellenberger over John Howard Via 3 round decision
Now I really want Takanori Gomi to win but I know Tyson Griffin will win a 3 round decision or TKO.

Hunger Criterion #504

So on Wednesday I got Hunger in the mail. It was directed by Steve McQueen. In Northern Ireland's Maze prison in 1981, twenty-seven-year-old irish Republican Army member Bobby Sands went on a hunger strike to protest the British government's refusal to recognize him and his fellow IRA inmates as political prisoners. It premiered  in 2008 at the Cannes Film Festival wining Steve McQueen the prestigious Caméra d'Or award.

I bought the film on Blu-ray because I wanted to see the amount of detail that Steve McQueen put into his frist movie and It was outstanding. Other then the 18 minute still shoot there is maybe 5 minutes of talking. He uses the camera to show whats going on rather than explaining it. I really like how the prison looks on the inside.This movie is pretty brutal if you have a weak stomach or don't like violence, That's this whole story. Now this film set a record for the longest uncut still frame shot in a mainstream movie. The length is 18 minutes long which I didn't find boring but I found it hard to understand what they where talking about, they talked really fast I recommend subtitles for the scene.

Over all this film was really powerful. The 18 minute scene comes out of no where but the film is still great. The sound is powerful. There is a part where all the guards are banging their shields and then bringing the criminals out and beating them and just the sound in that scene really puts you in that hallway. For a criterion film there is no commentary track on the disc which is a huge let down. But there is an interview with McQueen and Michael Fassbender (who plays Bobby Sands). Also a BBC program on the prison and a short documentary on the making of Hunger + a booklet with a 5 page essay.

Crackdown 2 Review

My brother rented Crackdown 2 on sunday and so I got to play it and I really enjoyed it. I played the frist one which was a surprise hit for me because I only bought it to get the halo 3 beta on it. Actually when they showed it at E3 I thought it would be horrible the art style just looked bad to me at the time. Anyways Crackdown (the frist one) is my favorite sandbox game reason is because the collectables are rewarding, I want to get all the orbs where as in other games they are there just for padding. I always tend to run around and jump rather than drive I just find being "Hulk" is a lot more enjoyable than to drive.

Now for Crackdown 2 they added some new stuff like when you max out one of your stats you can get cool moves. For example if you get level 5 agility you get wings so that you can glide. Also for level 5 toughness you can jump up hold B and smash the ground with your fist. In my game I have all max stats and level 4 driving so I don't know if you get something wicked for level 5 driving. The gameplay is awesome pretty much the same as the frist. In this one you are fighting Cell and "zombies" they call them freaks. Now for the new modes of play there are Freak breaches which you can only do at night where you just have to close a hole by killing X amount of freaks. There are also Cell strong holds where you have to kill X amount of Cell troops to capture the location. There are secret orbs and agility orbs, stunts, flying "stunts", and audio diaries where you learn a little about cell, the freaks and a rouge agent.

Now for what I am not a huge fan of the story. In the frist one you are out there to kill a bunch of gang leaders to take back your city. In this one after a virus breaks out and disables agency tower your task is to activate all the beacons. Which means no cool boss character pictures or cool story on why you are killing them. You are really just running around clearing maybe 5 bad guys and standing on a pad, 30 seconds latter move to the next. It's really a huge let down. Towards the end of the game I actually thought that after I got agency tower working I would wipe out cell but no luck.

I have had some glitches happen and so has my brother. I got stuck under a floating device and to fix it the game spat me out side it which was nice. Now this was funny my brother was fighting some freaks at the very start of the game and I think maybe two freaks explode on both sides of him or something. Anyways all we saw was an explosion and then the agent shot up thousands of feet into the air way above any other building (it sky rocketed upward for about 15-20 seconds and then what goes up must come down luckily he could move himself into the water to live.

So that game is awesome but the story is really lacking it doesn't stand out from all the rest of the games missions. There are no little mini videos or any of that from the frist But there's a third one coming out so fingers crossed.

What I got in the mail 21\07\2010

Today I got my copies of The Wages of Fear Spine #36 on blu-ray and Hunger Spine # 504 on blu-ray. Now I have not seen either of these movies and no nothing other than they are apparently really great films so I can not wait to watch them. I will be watching Hunger tonight so I am looking forward to it.

Thinking back on Silent Hill Home coming

Thinking back on that game I found it really fun. I am really wanting to play the other ones. I am thinking right now I am liking the silent hill series more than resident evil. I did finish it in 3 days (10-12 hrs). I ended up running past the bad guys because they are just a waste of ammo. It was tense for me at parts when I had no life or ammo and had to fight some bad guys. I was not really in the mood to play it on day 3 but after an hour I really got sucked into it and wanted to finish it. The achievements for the 360 are really easy to the point where you just need to kill one of each bad guy. there is some more like collect all the drawings and other collectables (thank you to which ever game created those).

Movies I have seen In the part few days

So I watch Grown ups and Funny people and I actually liked Grown ups more than funny people but that is not saying much. They are pretty much just stand up with a storyline...well not so much for grown ups.

Grown ups:
This movies huge thing is "you look like blank". If you like those jokes then this movie is for you. The weird thing is I didn't find what they said to be funny. What I like was the bow and arrow part and the water park other than that it was barely a comedy. It really felt like they where roasting each other. So heres all the jokes.

If I was to watch it again at least I can stare at Salma Hayek when she is on-screen.

Funny people:
This movie was just not funny. Having the trailer show that he lives ruined the point of this movie. Having him sick knowing he ends up being fine then its pointless. I didn't laugh during this movie and the storyline wasn't that good, what little there is ends up being ruined in the trailer. Had I not known he lived or died then maybe it would have been better. All the funniest parts are in the trailer so watch that instead.

I also watched Super Size me which was really good. I found it funny and entertaining. I also watch Morgan Spurlock's Where in the World Is Osama Bin Laden? which also was funny and entertaining. I like how he doesn't really seem to take a side on something. In Super Size Me he eats fast food for 30 days and shows you what it does however extreme it is. In Where in the World Is Osama Bin Laden? he isn't really looking for Bin Laden as much as he's trying to show you there's no point someone else will take his spot and use his capture as power to raise more people.

There are some more I have watched I just don't recall them at this time.

Dvd update 13/07/2010

So today I bought Who Framed Roger Rabbit Which I had seen when I was a kid most likely more than ten years ago so I am really looking forward to watching again. When I frist watch it I loved the film even tho the end bad guy scared the crap out of me he was so crazy and freaky.

I also order two more criterions. I ordered

Games I got pt2

So I got a call yesterday (Friday) saying that a game I had put on my wish list had been traded in. So today I get time to go down and pick it up for $8. The game I got is Resident Evil for the PlayStation which is a wicked find. Over the phone I thought he said it was for the PlayStation 2 which made no sense what so ever. The Gamecube one didn't have the live action footage in it so I am glad I got this one instead of the gamecube one. I might still pick up the other one but now I kinda want to get 2 and 3 for the PlayStation aswell.

I just see what he did to Frank Mir happening all over again. Brock will not stand with him and so with that if Brock can't get him down he is screwed. I think Shane has a great chance at beating Brock. The only way I see Brock Beating Shane is by doing the same thing he did to Frank Mir. Think about it all Shane has to do is land a punch.

Silent Hill Homecoming Day 3 + Fianl thoughts

I follow the path that leads to the doctor who likes to cut himself. ugh boss fight with no life or healing item. I die which sucks. after two try's I kill it. I get a founders key. I go to town hall being chased by everything. I find where the key needs to go I open it and head inside. I make my way through the tunnel and get to the graveyard. From there I make my way back to my house and head in side. I find the attic key so I go up stairs open the door and go to the attic. Might I add I hate slider puzzles! I ended up using a walk through to finish the puzzle I hate those type. Went to the other world and have to do some fun puzzles. Now I am heading to Silent Hill with a map I got.

In Silent Hill trying to make my way to the prison but I need to shut off the power to the gate. I make my way through the town and get to the building with the power. I go inside and solve the puzzle. I head back over to the prison. Inside I meet the cop and he helps me getting around the prison. I find my mom and you get two choices kill her or not kill her. you then find your lady friends mom which she runs away. My cop friend I belive is now dead. I see my brother and I chase after him, he runs into the church. Another puzzle and I learn that I really suck at puzzles. finished and behind the door..my father..hey look its pyramid head. I work my way and save elle. I also find my cop friend and tell them both to leave that I have some stuff to finish.

I find another puzzle and after way to long I realise how to do it. It ends up being really easy. I also do the puzzle on the door in three seconds after the floor one. I then enter the big room boss fight. Now I have so many healing items I made two mistake using two of the serum's with bad analog movements and still killed the boss. I got ending one.

The story is great I really liked it. I could have seen it going a few ways. I thought a jacob's ladder type story would have been wicked but the one they went with was still really good. I really liked the characters in the game and the setting. The graphics look great in the game and I really like the graphics for the other world. The sound effects are really good and I love the music for the silent hill series really puts me in the mood. my main problem is the mouths in the game, they look really bad and take me out of the game some what. Some of the stuff looks like Playstation 2 graphics like hands and mouths also the radio in the truck. But other than that a really great game with great atmosphere.
